Customizable Progress Bar and Timer for Projects (TAG Filter)
A customizable, red progress bar for the timer, which is currently somewhat too narrow? I constantly have to search to see how much time has elapsed. Would it be possible to make the display larger or thicker? The timer itself is very practical—I understand it is not intended as a time-tracking tool—yet such a feature would be immensely beneficial. Freelancers could save a considerable amount of money by generating precise reports that clearly show how much time was spent on specific tasks, enabling minute-accurate billing. Many users wish not only to capture screenshots but also to monitor how much time a client invests monthly. Perhaps a TAG (project) filtering system could also be added.

Page comments notify everyone without having to use @
If I make a comment on a page shared with team members, it should notify everyone that a new comment has been added. Instead, we see that we have to use the @ functionality in the commentto make sure a team member is notified

'Ding' sound with new notification
I use the app in the background, having some sort of subtle ding or ping when I get a new notification (from other team members) would be a great quality of life feature.

Connect Local Calendar to Local ByDesign Calendar View
Just like Fantastical has implemented it, it would be a nice feature to be able to connect to your local calendar and reminders, instead of only connecting to online/cloud accounts. Not everybody uses a cloud service, and some would like to control which local calendar is being used for item sharing/exchange.

Add Monthly, Quarterly & Yearly Views to Timeline for Better Long-Term Planning
Currently, the timeline view works great for day-to-day and weekly planning, but it lacks broader time horizon perspectives that are essential for effective long-term planning. It would be useful to have the ability to switch between different timeline views: Monthly View – See all tasks and goals laid out across the entire month Quarterly View – For quarterly planning Yearly View – Get a bird's-eye view of your annual goals Some apps have explored similar concepts (like horizon-based planning in timestripe)

Fix bugs with habits streaks
So, currently there are 2 distinct bugs with the habits functionality: 1) First, if I change the scheduling of a habit, I lose my streak. This has happened multiple times already, and while it isn’t a huge issue (since the goal is to develop new habits, regardless of any arbitrary “streaks”), it’s still frustrating. Like, what’s the point of having a streak, if I have to start from 0 just because, for instance, I change the timing of my weekly habit from “every Tuesday” to “every Wednesday”, or from “9:00-11:00” to “9:30-11:30”. This simply doesn’t make sense at all… 2) Secondly, there’s a weird discrepancy between the iOS and the MacOS version of the app when it comes to habits. On iOS, ByDesign always displays my current streak for my uncompleted habits for the day, and adds +1 when I mark them as complete. But on MacOS, it displays 0 for my streak until I complete the habit – after which it correctly displays my streak. So, there’s no difference after I’ve marked a habit as complete. But there’s a weird discrepancy before I do so. I’ve gotten used to this over the months I’ve been using ByDesign… But I still find it mildly frustrating every single time.

iOS app is laggy
Opening the app feels slow: even with perfect internet connectivity, it usually takes 1-3 seconds to load. Whenever I mark a task/habit as completed, I need to wait ~0.5-1 seconds before closing the app to make sure it actually saves the new task/habit status. Now, if this were a video streaming app, for instance, I might be more understanding of the delay. But as it stands, ByDesign is amongst the slowest apps on my newish iPhone, despite it having relatively simple functionality. I didn’t notice these issues with the Mac app, but I dread using ByDesign on my phone specifically because of how slow/laggy it feels.

Expand pomodoro/timer features
The current Pomodoro feature is useful only if you submit to a pre-defined, very rigid idea of how a Pomodoro or task timer should work. But what if you want 30 minute work sessions, followed by 30 minute breaks? What if you want a single, uninterrupted 3 hour focus session? What if you want to make ByDesign accommodate the way you think, and not the other way around? Currently, the Pomodoro & task timer are definitely NOT able to accommodate that level of flexibility (or any flexibility at all, to be honest). This means, that I – as many other users, I assume – find the whole Pomodoro timer feature completely useless. I would really like to use this feature… I just want this feature to fit my workflow – and not the other way around. So please: let users set up the timer however they wish.

Make widgets more useful
As of now, I can only see the top 3 tasks in my iOS widgets, even if I have like 5-6 tasks planned for the day. I understand this is to save space… But what I don’t understand is why I can’t scroll down to see my other tasks within the widget? Like, right now, the widget is more of a decoration with some utility. I’m proposing to make it utility-first by ensuring users are able to take the most important actions (e.g.: checking all tasks for the day, adding tasks, and marking tasks as completed) quickly & easily, without even opening the app.

Add start/end of day
Right now, every day ends at midnight. Which – at first glance – is normal: after all, the day does end at midnight… BUT… For most of us, the day doesn’t actually end at midnight. We might have late-night work sessions every now-and-then, or we might complete a habit (e.g.: reading a book) after midnight. It would be amazing to be able to set up the end/start of our day manually. Yes, it could still be midnight by default. But if someone has a vastly different schedule and/or idea of when a day should end, I’d argue that it would be incredibly useful to allow them this flexibility.

Add tasks with voice assistant
I’ve used other to-do apps and project management apps in the past that allow you to speak naturally about all the things you need to do, when you want to do them, etc. And then they auto-create tasks & deadlines from a single voice memo. Now, if you’ve never used such a feature before, or if you only have 1-2 tasks per day, then this might not sound super important… But if you’re frequently on the go, or have 5+ tasks per day, or want to brain dump tasks easily, then this feature is a huge timesaver. ByDesign already recognizes natural language… So why not add a voice assistant specifically for adding tasks? Then, you’d actually be able to SPEAK natural language, and the app would automatically create tasks and add deadlines from your voice memo. Even better if you could dump multiple tasks & deadlines in a single voice memo, and the app would then sort it into individual tasks on its own, without any further manual input.

Significantly better data privacy
As it stands, ByDesign collects A LOT of data (see screenshot attached). And sure, I get it: some of it might be essential for a core functionality of the app, and ByDesign has a solid privacy policy, etc., etc. But at the end of the day: it’s still a lot of data for essentially a task management app. And way more than some other apps collect. My recommendations? Collect less data. Only what’s absolutely essential, nothing more. The fact that many other project management / lifestyle apps collect a lot less data makes me think this is a realistic request. Use end-to-end encryption, and ensure our data is always encrypted (both in transit and at rest). Not even you should be able to view, edit, or otherwise access our data. Allow users to optionally choose to use ByDesign in a completely offline mode. I understand this would mean that those users would only be able to use ByDesign on a single device, since syncing wouldn’t be possible this way… But if that’s how someone wants to use ByDesign, why not let them? Allow users to choose iCloud sync, rather than syncing through your servers. I know this would only work in the Apple ecosystem, so not all users would be able to take advantage of this… But again, many other similar apps allow this, and why shouldn’t users be able to choose? Allow users to opt out of the leaderboard, and all the other “social” aspects of ByDesign. I, for one, don’t use these features, and actually find these features frustrating. I’d opt out instantly without a second thought, IF that were possible… Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE ByDesign, and I understand that privacy & security may or may not be this important for everyone. But for now, the lack of strong privacy measures makes me hesitant to use ByDesign for my more sensitive projects/tasks/notes – which is definitely not ideal.

Where are “we” with the Mindmap function?
Where are “we” with the Mindmap function? 😇 Think Vulcan Mind meld to help organize thoughts, Tasks, Projects 🖖 To assist with creating and organizing tasks for larger or more complex projects, a Mindmap feature with Mindmap Ai to organize my Todo, Tasks would be amazing. I would like to see Mindmap generated into a ByDesign Page. The Mindmap with an option for Mermaid maps should have multiple export options, PDF, PNG and Markdown. Mind mapping can be a valuable tool to for outlining and organizing thoughts, in addition to tasks. Another must have, give us the ability to drag / rearrange nodes and edit text in the Mindmap and Mermaid maps.
